What is Indian foot massage ?

Also known as Kansa Vatki, an Ayurvedic style massage, has been mentioned in various books on Ayurveda . This unique treatment involves the use of ghee or coconut oil and is carried out on the feet, ankles and calves – the treatment begins with a foot and leg massage, to help with relaxation and continues by using a small 3 metal Kansa Vatki bowl, which is invigorating, followed by a balancing massage, encouraging relaxation. This treatment promotes balance in the body mind and spirit, encouraging deep relaxation and revitalises the body.

What to expect from your session

Your session starts with a consultation, where we talk about you, your lifestyle and you current and medical history, all of which is totally confidential.

You will lay on the treatment couch, with your lower limbs and feet uncovered, to enable the treatment to take place – wear clothes that allow access to the limbs below the knees, please do not wear tight trousers, jeans or leggings.

For comfort, you will have a throw covering the body which is not being worked on – if you do not wish to have a throw placed over you, please inform me or removed it if it becomes uncomfortable.

Your feet and legs will be cleansed and then, as explained in the “what is” section above, manual massage and massage followed by movements with the Kansa Vatki bowl will be given, all using ghee or coconut oil.
